Keiki cut

This is my first day, sorry if this is not a proper way to ask a question...

My wife and I have a few Orchid plants, they have been beautiful and long lasting. One of the plants has a keiki about half way up a stem. The kieki is now about five months old, and has many(15) roots and a well developed new stem with buds. My question is; how do I remove (or should I) this kieki. If I do remove it, how should it be planted ? We are not experienced growers, but love the plants.

I am not sure of the type - we bought it at boxstore - it had small pink/white flowers. I have a photo of the plant in bloom, and also a photo of the Keiki - if it would help to see them let me know.

Myles - LOL! I'm afraid saying an orchid is from boxstore doesn't do much to help identify it. But that is where a lot of people get started. Please do post a picture if you can. I'm guessing it is either a Phal (the "moth" orchids that have flat round flowers) or a Dend (which has tall stalks that produce sprays of flowers.)

BTW - Welcome to the forum!

Also - try going to google and enter "orchid photographs". You should get a listing of a lot of sites that have pictures (with names), that can help you narrow down what your plant is. Also, it will help encourage you to want more - always more!
