Sunlight to battle fungus

Hi everyone, I have a constant problem with fungus on my oncidiums.
A while ago I heard that direct sunlight will cure it, I do spray periodically with
Phyton 27 and I don't seem to have any fungus problems on my other specie
orchids. I was just curious if anyone has tried the direct sun method and how
successful it was or wasn't. Any reply would be appreciated. Hank......

Do you have a fan moving the air around and between the leaves of your oncidiums? Having good air circulation is super important in avoiding issues related to fungus.

Thanks Bruce, My plants are outside now so they are getting plenty of circulation. The problem started while they were
inside under lights, I use a mister thaes on atleast 12 hrs. a day so I am sure air circulation was the problem at that time.
That being said now that they are out I was just thinking of putting them in bright sunlight for a short time to see if it helped
getting rid of the problem, Thanks again Bruce. Hank......

Bright sunlight will give the leaves "freckles". So if you want to avoid spots on the leaves you won't want them in full sun...for that matter i'm not aware of too many oncidiums that can handle even partially bright sun. It burns the leaves to a crisp. I don't know who suggested sun, but generally that would be a bad idea.

I would spray with a fungicide and even with them being outside - put a fan on them to dry them off sooner rather than later. Also, water only in the early morning so that they dry off by the time night falls. Good luck, Hank.

I would like to see your plants so we know what you have. It's hard to analyze a problem with out seeing the patient.

Sorry Katherine, but patients leaves have been cut back nothing to see. Also Connie I wasn't planing on keeping
my plants in full sun very long. Bruce I have already sprayed them, we are on the ocean so we get a strong breeze
almost all the time so I don't think a fan is necessary . Thanks everyone for your suggestions . Hank......
