    Default Rodriguezia batemanii

A strange one. Genus is within Oncidiinae; seems to me to be closely related to Tolumnia, but I don't know if that's right.

It's kinda hard to get an idea as to what the flowers really look like. From the front, they look like fairly normal Odont-type blooms, but they're actually trumpet shaped, and have a strange spur that splits off from the lip very late in bud development. If you click on the pics to get large versions, you can kinda see developmental stages as you go down the spikes.

Anyhow. Sorry the pics aren't better.

Very cool, I love the arrangement of the buds on the spike dropping down like that. Very unusual!

They look very delicate, Sue. Are they? How unusual. Very cool.

Cool flowers! The blooms from many members of this genus are quite unusual. Should I post pictures that i have from rodriquezia species for everyone to enjoy?
    Cheers. Hoa.
