Creating more pots of plants

I have a thought of multiplying my plant - an oncidium

This is a picture of a new pb tht has grown and currently has a spike. Considering cutting it off from its "parent" pb after the flowers have bloomed and withered.

Will new pb grow from the "parent" pb?

I would not separate just 1 pb from a plant to make a division , usually i would leave @ least 3 pb's with leaves with the latest pb(this should keep growing & flowering) & see if i could encourage a new pb from the older pb's.
This way the plant should keep flowering for you & if the back bulbs start a new growth you have got the bonus of a new flowering plant.

if you cut off just one bulb, and you get lucky, in 3 or so years it could reach flowering size again, but the first couple of new growths are likely to fizzle out and fail to grow normally. especially with it only having a few roots, it would most likely die slowly after attempting to sprout new growths a few times. same with the group it is cut from, they could try to grow, but if too weak the new growth will eventually die, and then the older bulbs too. it is very hard to keep a weak plant going. much better to keep to the 3-pb minimum rule. even then, it might not flower on a new growth right away, may need to settle in conserve some strength first.
