ARGH! Time to rebag.

Okay, so if anyone remembers the dendrobium that had to be bagged a while back, this about that one.

So, I took it out of the bag after the new cane sprouted and got about five leaves on it. It did great for a few months, then the leaves on the next growth started to drop off. Last night I took it out of the pot and found almost all of the root were dead in the same manner they had been before (hollow, but not rotted). I’ve been watering it once a week, since it’s not blooming or anything, so I’m just baffled as to what happened there.

Either way, this time potted it in pre soaked sphag moss (rather than the orchid mix like last time), dipped it in rooting hormone, trimmed the dead roots, and bagged the puppy again. Is this okay? I’ve only bagged twice before, so I’m not sure I did it right. The moss was soaked overnight, and then I literally potted the plant in the moss and let it drain for several minutes before bagging it. Good? Bad? Try again? It’s been set in a corner of the room so it’ll get some indirect, subdued light, but nothing bright or direct.

Does the newest growth still have leaves ? Dends. can be ummm diffrent to grow . the older canes will end up leafless and basically rootless . It is up too the new to grow roots and have leaves . I call some of mine sticks lol .
They hate wet feet I would not bag it, just set it in the area you mentioned . Be careful of overwatering in the Spag. Gin

It has one leaf left. Are you sure they're supposed to be rootless? This one has almost none.

Does not sound good I was thinking the new had more leaves but had not started to grow roots . Bagging it might help if not kept too wet . Gin

Should I get some orchid mix and rebag it in that instead?

I would leave it in the Spag. and watch the moisture . I hope it recovers for you . Gin
