Cattleya Orchid Root problem

Clean pot, good mix & they still want to escape. I think it may have been influenced by the Vandas. ( Catt seedling in an 80mm pot )

I agree with Harvey. You have a good problem. Some of my Catts. like to produce aerial roots and are very healthy plants. The roots your plant is producing are certainly healthy. I would be concerned of I was seeing aerial roots but the roots in your potting mix were rotting. If that happened I would be concerned about either overwatering or a degraded mix. What I believe you have is a very healthy plant doing what it wants to do!

I am making a guess. Maybe you are keeping things a bit drier lately and your humidity has been high in the greenhouse. I'm not suggesting that you change anything though. The plant seems to be very healthy and that is the most important thing. It's not a bad problem to have!

Repot !! Good on ya, its only been in this pot for 3 months. haha. If this keeps up it'll be interesting. BTW, the seedling is C. leopoldii (tigrina) x C. leopoldii (tigrina) from the USA.
Not into clear pots, have tried them on Phals & seen plenty of them grown commercially in clear. Not a big fan.
I water every day in the weather we are having & fert' 2 times a week. The Vandas love it & so do the Catts. Humidity is way up.

I like your thinking but unfortunately our winters aren't like yours in Sth Florida, just a tad warmer there.

Even this year in Florida the temps got devestating. I know I lost over 40 orchids to blasting and freezing. Its not just about regulating temps but maintaining no matter where you are. Outside was dangerous this year so I had moved everything indoors only to have my heating system fail. In my shed turned greenhouse, I had rotting problems due to leaks in the roof ( we get snow here its just liquified).
