Phal. (Hawaiian Clouds 'Hawaii' x Yukima 'Tinny')

My big white Phal. is blooming again. I cut off the old spikes, dispite that they were rebranching, in order to get it to put all its energy into the new spike. I thought this might get it an awardable blooming . . . but, unfortunately, it didn't bloom out well. Some flowers are a little small, the tiling didn't work out right, and some ended up just plain facing the wrong way. Nevertheless, it's a nice big branching spike with nice big (normally very flat) flowers, on a nice big plant. So I won't complain.

That's a whole lot of chatter for one blurry photo. Sorry. Guess I've been working too hard.

You bring up a wonderful point...

I get very attuned to new spike development with phals, and early on I flip the pot's orientation to the light trying to get the spike to grow straight up.

But at some point you want to stabilize the direction of the light source for best presentation. How far along do you do that? And what's the best direction to point the spike towards the light source, to obtain that presentation? (Assuming windowsill growing.)
