Wendell, I have a Phalaenopsis NOID (you may have seen other posts about this item, kept in pantry for year and a half, with only a spotlight on it/didn't want my cats to eat it. When I decided to expand my orchid collection, I got a mini greenhouse and it went in there.). It's not in bud but only in Spike right now but advancing quickly. VERY healthy... Before it spiked, it put out about five or six large, thick roots and probably about the same amount of leaves and is now very large and heavy/WILL definitely provide photos when the blooms arrive.![]()
Hi Wendell. I grow indoors and have ~50 blooming size orchids with 8 currently in spike. Rlc. Yen Surprise 'Seiko' with three buds and a noid dendrobium are probably my most anticipated. The dendrobium because it didn't bloom last year and I found the right spot for it this year.

Hi wolf71758 (May I call you Wolfie? I just like the sound of that!), you're doing much better than I am but have a much bigger collection then I do as well. Isn't it exciting when an orchid that hasn't bloomed in a while and just seems to be chugging along suddenly comes to life? That's the case with mine, above. I have a few others that are spiking but they're not as far along as this one. I hate to ask you this, but do you remember what it looked like when it bloomed? (because I don't remember mine! All I remember is it was white and had some kind of coloring it but I don't remember what, LOL.). You KNOW it's been a long time when you can't remember what it looked like! WHEN DO YOU THINK THE BUDS WILL OPEN ON THIS DENDROBIUM? I've always been fairly unsuccessful with Dendrobium's but I just found out that a few of my orchids ARE Dendrobium's that were recently renamed....uh-oh.... PLEASE DO SEND PHOTOS
so beautiful. I love the color!
Wolfie, I REALLY like the color on that Dendrobium (even though it was last years/don't expect anything different this year). It's sort of a "seductive" color......a good color for a woman's nail polish, blush, etc.....NICE JOB!
Citywildcat,
You hit the nail on the head. Seductive, sensual is that color. I actually have one of my bedrooms painted that color. I really like it. I want an Orchid that color.
The paint is called "raspberry".

i like that![]()
That spike looks fine Wildcat, I love Phalaenopsis species and hybrids. I prefer not to stake the flower stems I like it grow naturally, looks a lot better to me, the blooms last so long.
That Rlc Yen Surprise is a beauty Wolf and good luck with your Dendrobium orchid, I find some of them tricky to grow but once their happy they take off 😀
