My Phal Stella got too much water

I was away eloping and my mom watered my Phal Stella A LOT (not currently in bloom, whew). She was in the midst of growing another leaf, which easily came off. The other leaves are still firm and a healthy green, but sadly no longer attached to the plant. I put them back in the pot, settled them in a bit, and set it outside in warm shade.

I can accept losing the leaves if I have to, but it sure would be nice for something to survive and bloom another year.

Is there anything I can do to keep my Phal Stella alive?

If all the leaves have fallen off, usually water gets into the top (crown) of the leaves and sits there and rots the leaf at the very base. You generally don't realize anything is wrong until it is too late. I would suggest you take a trip to the store and buy a nice pretty one with all but a few flowers open and start over. Once you have been growing a few years you will realize it is unfortunate, but while learning you will kill more than a few. Hang in there...

Sorry to hear of this. Don't be discouraged. You didn't do the deed! As Connie said, go buy another and take it as a learning opportunity.

How long were you away? You know that for easily a week, with a good watering in advance, it can go without a fresh watering? And it is better to have it get a bit too dry than too wet. Sometimes, it is just safer to ask the plant caretaker to do nothing for the orchid while you are away.

I recently saved a phal at a local tattoo shop from the same fate.

Thanks you guys - I forgive myself for neglecting to tell my mother not to water the indoor plants. I know she meant well. I doubt she knows anything about orchids and even if she did, she was probably so bloody excited I was actually getting married that she threw caution to the wind and did what Saskatchewanites do - water, water, water.
