    Default NOID Vanda

this was one of my first vandas I bought years ago, when names meant nothing and I went by "OH that's a pretty color", thanks to the people on here I've learned the importance of names and parentage that goes into crosses. This orchid has been to hell and back, when I had an above ground swimming pool I found it in the pool one morning completely submerged, pulled it out shook it off and hung it back up. One afternoon I looked out the window and saw 2 of my dogs playing tug of war with something, went outside to find it was this plant, one dog had the hanger end the other a firm grip on the roots, wrestled it away from them and hung it back up. There were many times I had about given up with this one and decided to throw it away but could never bring myself to do it, this is the first blooming of this vanda. It is labeled as Usha but someone pointed out they think it was mislabeled. They saw a strong Mevr L Velthuis influence instead of JVB. It could be Pure Delight ,Mevr L Velthuis x V Doctor Anek, Connie had a post of one and mine does look similar to hers. Disappointed that it may not be an Usha, but I do have one more Usha plant so hopefully that one is labeled correctly. Would be happy for any input to name.Name: P1020035 (2).JPG

I concur with your friends - more like a V M Velthuis cross.

I would say it has some Sanderiana in it due to the dual coloring and JVB has to be in there somewhere due the plant form and the coloring as well. Just my opinion...and yeah it looks like something that would hang in my greenhouse. Don't let me know where you live or I might have to sneak in and borrow it. lol It's a beauty! Did I mention how much I love pink?!

It's a Velthius hybrid alright, no doubt about that.
