Zygonisia / Zygoneria - media & culture?

Hi everyone!

I've been reading some conflicting information on the culture of Zygos. I recently acquired my first 'Blue Birds' & 'Adelaide Meadows' plants. They need to be re-potted but before I do, I want to confirm the media options that are best for them. I've read that everything from bark to sphag works well but I really want to hear from the experts. I live in NY and the summers here are very humid. I pretty much have all of my orchids in bark, with the exception of the milts. which I have in a sphag/bark mix. I prefer to stick with a bark/charcoal/perlite mix whenever possible. It just makes life easier

don't grow zygnosia but i think should do well in bark.

At an orchid show I almost bought a zygo and the vendor told me she treats hers exactly like phals. I believe they were potted in bark.

I grow mine in medium-sized bark.

If you can grow Cymbidiums you will grow these. Same mix, same sort of pot. They don't mind a warm spot in winter plus a little more food & water when growing. Good light without burning. Good air flow. Too much humidity isn't good.

Humid in summers in NY? I live about an hr north of you Jackie, ive never noticed it to be overly humid or humid at all much. That being said i grow my zygos in med bark, perlite and charcoal mix, they do great! I water twice a week.
My hygrometer usally hovers between 20-30% humidity in the summer in this area, i keep it in the high 60% in the grow room and the zygos do fine with the bark mix. Ive noticed most growers avoid using spagnum in the northeast as its conditions can be very erratic in our area.

Isn't that something! Just an hour north and such a difference in the humidity! This time of year we're typically between 50-65%. At this exact moment it's 55%. It may be because of the numerous lakes in this area, I live in lower Dutchess county and there are lakes & reservoirs everywhere over here. I keep the plants near windows (open) and they're flourishing for the most part. I don't run the AC until it's uncomfortable because of them...lol. As long as the orchids are doing great, I will suffer a little!
I just got my first bag or Orchiata and I love it! It's so much easier to work with. I will mix some charcoal & perlite and repot my zygo's this weekend. Thank you everyone for your input, I do appreciate it!
