Paphiopedilum Orchids

Okay, I couldn't find the answer to this question anywhere. I'm not even sure if it is enough to be of concern, but here it goes:

You know how a Paphiopedilum will eventually lose one or two base leaves after a repot a few months back? (Either that or it's just me doing something wrong)

Well when the leaf turn brown and falls off, do I have to repot it again? Because sometimes when the leaves fall off from the base, I feel like the base of the plant is exposed and may threaten and discourage new root growth. I'm not sure if it's my imagination.

If the leaf turns bone dry and falls off or full yellow and falls off it is ok. If the leaves turn mushy then would be a candidate for closer look. I don't grow too may paphs. I could be wrong

So, your plant was repotted at the correct level, then after a couple leaves died back it looks like it isn't potted deep enough? There is no need to change anything. New root growth will rarely come from that older growth anyway, or will still come from as low as possible not from the exposed area. If you do happen to see a root emerging there above the bark that looks too exposed put a little pad of sphagnum over it protected by a couple pieces of bark. Once the root grows down into the pot it will be fine.

It is normal to lose a leaf or 2 from older growths when a plant is stressed, and repotting is always a bit stressful, and eventually older growths will die back completely. If you are losing leaves from the newest or only growth you may have more of a problem, but as long as it doesn't keep progressing it should be OK.
