Hybrid research!

So, I was wanting to do something with my Den. hono hono before it went out of bloom for the year. I looked around and saw no viable parents, but then, I saw my Den. stephen batchelor! The dendrobium section (D. anosmum) and Latouria (D. stephen batchelor) are compatible. I couldnt find any info on this cross. Does anyone know anything of the sort?

Dend. Stephen Batchelor is a fairly recent cross (1994) between D. alexandrae x D. johsoniae, so it's a primary hybrid. There are no crosses with Stephen Batchelor registered, so go for it!

There seems to be a lot of interest in breeding the Latouria section of the genus Dendrobium at the moment. It seems that the long lasting quality of the flower is what many are hoping the cross would impart on the progeny.

So, I say go for it... it will be an interesting experiment and in these wild crosses come the more interesting plants!

The stephen batchelor has been in bloom since september. So shes the reciever and the ovaries are swelling! They took!
