    Default Paph Avalon x Hermanum

I have this orchid for 2 years. It has amazingly been in bloom since May2015. As the old stem was dieing out a new one grew and thus the result. The stem is like a conveyer belt in that as the oldest flower is dieing out a new one is next in line ready to open. It needs to be repotted but I do not want to do while in bloom. I am also concerned my repotting may bring it to its demise. Have not repotted a paph. It grows under lights in a closed in patio.Name: Paph Av - 1.jpg

    Very pretty Paph!

You are going to have to repot sometime. I find the longer I wait with a Paph, the worse the roots are.

Not very far away from the species, despite it apparently being at least a 2nd generation hybrid.
When these were first discovered, the collector told Fred Sander that it could have up to 32 flowers, but not all at once - in fact generally one at a time, although I have seen strong plants which had more than one out . The original illustration, when one was shown to the RHS orchid committee at the end of the 19th century showed a plant with three flowers, but a noie added by the artist said that she had added a third flower in the interests of art ! But Sander being a very sharp businessman, in the days of orchid mania ( 19th century, when no-one knew how to raise orchids from seed, missed out the last bit - and the first plants sold at auction for an enormous sum, perhaps equal to some tens of thousands of dollars , pounds or euros, today.

Not quite sure what this is supposed to be since neither Avalon nor Hermanum is a complete or correct name, but sequential flowering Paphs like this can be in bloom almost constantly for years. Go ahead and repot in spring if not now. Waiting is far more likely to kill the plant than repotting, even when in flower.

I would be very happy with this one.
