    Default Bulbophyllum longiflorum

Just got this 9 days ago at a local plant fair, the tag read Bulbophyllum elegans and had a spike, as the spike continued to grow it was obvious it was not a elegans and I was kind of glad of that. Bulbophyllum elegans is on the endangered list and the only picture I was able to find was in a list of endangered orchids in Sri Lanka. After some help from others we realized it is actually a B. longiflorum and that does not really bother me, I am also picking a yellow one up at Redland this weekend.

Thanks Chris! Have never thought of them as looking like cockroaches. They are pollinated similar to all other orchids by the bees, wasp, flies etc. I saw a program on PBS last week about Darwin's work on orchids and how they pollinate, very interesting indeed! Makes you think twice about spraying for insects because of what they do!

Thanks Sheryl! I am not a fan of cockroaches or snakes! I hope I can put that image from Chris out of my mind when I look at some of the blooms now!
