This is a primary hybrid - between Miltonia leucoglossa ( a natural hybrid occurring where the territory of M.clowesii and neither this nor its parents are very frequently seen) and Oncidium schroderianum.
I bought this from a trader at a show a few years ago, and when I was taking it back to my car, suddenly noticed a mass of some insect pest on the underside of one of the leaves. I shot back into the show, but the guy had disappeared... Cleaning it up gave it a major setback it seems, since this is the first flowering I can remember . I will hope for a better arrangement of flowers on the spike as the plant improves, but this has been both an odd year, and a difficult one in my greenhouse and the fact that it flowers at all must be a good sign.
