Chia Lin "pct"

I just got this plant to flower, but the coloring is very pale. waldor advertised it as a: Blc. Chia Lin `PCT' FCC/OSROC, AM/AOS Red Cattleya...and said: one of the darkest christmas reds" of the chia lins! but it opened pale greyish pink? I called waldor and they said chia lins are notorious for opening a funky color and to put it in the sun and it will darken the color. It has been a week in the sun and it's still light pale? Has anyone had this experience with chia lins? one friend said his opened dark?

Thank you Raybark, especially for all the led info! I went back 20 times to your guys Led info, and finally began to understand the basics. There is so much conflicting info out there about all the led's, that it took months of migranes to absorb...I apologize for the frustration! I went with cobb led's, as i have a narrow 3" x 12" grow space and want white full spectrum light for my living room. 1 round 54w cobb led in the middle with a 3 x 3 ' footprint, and 2 400w rectangular cobb panels, one on each end that have a 3' x 5' footprint... i tried to build them from scratch like a computer, but the warranty of the parts like the heat sink and drivers is only 1 year...5 yrs if you buy their light system...I got them to price match at least I bought a par meter also as it is critical! Grazie!

Ishould really love to know how you use the PAR meter - I am still scratching my head several days after mine arrived.....

I had Chia Lin 'New City' and that was perhaps the darkest red I have ever seen.

youtube has a few good video's on par meters and their use...its funny how each day the outdoor sunlight's reading is so variable...

I just experienced this first hand with two different orchids. First my Encyclia vitellina, which developed flowers at a place where it was warmer than usual and its flowers became more yellow-orange rather than the normal red-orange. Then I saw it in one Masdevallia, which had yellow flowers with a hint of red in summer while the flowers are more red in color now when it is cooler.

I hope you meant a 3' x 12' growing area, not inches!
