Pretty flowers and vacation report

Hi everybody!

I didn't post for a long time, because I spend most of the summer in Poland with my family. My kids played with their cousins and I visited all of my childhood friends and my family. It was great! I made a really good set-up for my orchids at home, so taking care of them was fairly easy and all of them survived my absence.
I went for a trip to the highest mountains in Poland--Tatry and took some nice pictures of a wild orchid and other pretty flowers. I don't know what the names are, but they were very unusual looking. I am posting the pictures for you.

Comming back to US the security was so strict, that we could not bring any food or toys on the plane. I had a lollypop hidden in my packet and "they" took it away! 9 hours on the plane with hungry and bored 3 and 4 year olds starts to sound like security problem o by itself!

First thing I did when I came back, was to celebrate return with buying 4 more orchids. I know that you will understand!


I missed everybody on the forum, and I am glad to be back.

Nice to have you back with us! Glad you had a good trip... sorry about the lolly pop ; it's really gotten pretty sad. But the pictures are lovely, and 4 more orchids!! Whooo Hoooo!!!

welcome back Ania.... sounds like a great holiday.... thanks for the pictures of the local Polish flowers too... and after being in a plane for 9 hours with kiddies wanting things to do.. you deserve those four orchids!

Beautiful flowers! Glad you had a good trip and welcome back! What kind of setup did you use for your orchids in your absence? Glad they all survived, too!

I normally keep all of the plants in my sun room, some on the plant stand on west facing windows, some hanging and baking in sun on south windows and some out of direct light in the corner. Before I went away I took all of the hanging plants (vandas, brassavolas, dendrobs) under the deck where they can be watered with a house every couple of days. A couple of little once went to my aunt's house since they had to be sprayed everyday. For the paths I setup a table with shop light and fan in the basement. All of my Cats and other heat tolerating ones stayed in the sun room with all the windows open and shades down. I took some pictures tonight, except for the area under the deck. Got to be too dark, I will do it tomorrow. I had my aunt water plants on set schedule and they all did well. Only a couple have wrinkled leaves, but I happens on my watch too.
