A little Herping adventure

Over the last few weeks I have been going out to "the field" to learn about botany, but on the way, we come across and talk a little about reptiles and amphibians.
So here are some of the guys we have come across:

Some sort of black water snake(sorry don't know much about these)




I couldn't believe my luck when I actually saw this little guy, and caught it, Pseudacris crucifer(Hyla crucifer) Spring Peeper.


Rana clamitans, green frog (Not to be confused by the Bull frog) this is a gravid female.




Bull frog Tadpoles:




A Baby Snapping Alligator



A red eared slider



A two lined salamander Eurycea bislineata, this was pretty cool (we found 5 of these in one little brook, under stones.



All the animals were quickly released after their photo expose.

Yup had lots of fun, and more fun on the way this Saturday! ANyway, Julie ther first video has no audio, a limitation of my Digi Cam.

Very interesting stuff Tindo! Amazing what you can find if you know what to look for. We had a very big Snapping turtle (I think) walk across our loan last spring. Looked like some kind of turtle dinosaur with the spiky tail and pointy armor. She had long legs (for a turtle) and was moving surprisingly fast. So interesting to see creatures like that.
