    Default Clearing my jungle :(

We're putting our home on the market next month & that means doing things to make it sellable. Unfortunately, my hubbie & the realtor think the back yard needs to be cleared to show how big it is & it is my sad duty to cut down & clear out most of what has taken me 13 years to grow
I, myself, like the jungle look & feel, but it may be too much for prospective buyers. As a side note, the house we're buying has hardly any plant life & I already have cuttings & seeds ready
I'm leaving some stuff in the backyard.... bamboo, Plumeria, pink trumpet tree, Royal Poiciana, & rubber tree...... all cut back to look presentable. I've eradicated most of the 4 0'clocks, but you know how they grow.... LOL!! They'll be back in no time
Just wanted to vent, thanks for listening

Sob!! It's hard to say goodbye to old friends, just concentrate on all the new ones you will cultivate.

Isn't amazing how many people want that 'we are in control of the world' look, with everything looking all manicured and lined up so perfectly? Ugh! Yucky!! Let nature have a little say in the matter and shape of things.

Oh Man I hate it when you have to cut stuff down, to please the masses. I have a friend that doesn't want any plant to touch another. Hence she is always out pruning. My garden is a jungle and I can tell when people come to see it what kind of person they are. Lots of them shudder at the disarray and others look like they have finally found there garden of eden. I have lots of cutting for you if you need them Val, just give me a yell.

Maybe you just don't have the right buys looking. If I were to shop for a house that has a big green backyard with tons of plants I would fall instantly in love.

You must look on the bright side - what an opportunity to try all kinds of new things, plus restart the things you love. A whole new canvas on which to work!

Yeah, that is what we went through two years ago. It took us THREE years to get the sprinkler system in and a front lawn and the back lawn tamed. Got the rock garden in the front all planted and established. Then the darndest thing happened. All those empty lots that were around us and gave us soooooo much space started filling in and we felt cramped. The 70 x 115 foot lot with the second fairway as our back yard (another motivating factor) now was feeling more like a postage stamp.

So, here we are on 1.6 acres and working away again. See my intro thread for more info and pics. Hard work, but fun, fun, fun.

Hope you will have fun in your new place as well.

I agree! Everything you wish you had done differently; everything you never got around to trying; everything that has intrigued you but you didn't have room for. Think of the possibilities! And the old yard? Well as soon as the new people have been there a while, and real life sets back in--everything will be back!
