Platystele ximenae - culture

I just bought a Platystele ximenae and was wondering if I should put it on a slab or would it do better in a terrarium setting. I get the feeling that they need a good amount of humidity. If that is so since I live in Iowa it would get plenty in the summer but not the winter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Julie,

I have not grown a Platystele, so I really have no answer to your question, but if it requires high humidity, I would place the plant in a pot or a terrarium. Slab mounts can really dry out fast. Hopefully this bump will help your post catch someone's eye who grows this plant.

My orchid encyclopedia says about the genus:

"Most of these plants are easy to cultivate in moist, intermediate to cool-growing greenhouse condititions."
