    Lynda,

It is because of you and your wonderful scarf that I got all these gorgeous plants.

Very nice! My favorite too. Are they in pots? I have two mounted. They are climbers and I didn't know they could be grown in pots.

Most are in small clay pots with coco fibers. Bigger ones with an extensive root system sit in a small 3 - 4 in vanda baskets also in coco fibers. Most of them came mounted but it's just too much maintenance for me since I am not home to mist them. And the coco fibers are perfect in retaining the right amount of water because the roots are always white with a light tint of green. When they start to climb out of their pots, then voila, another orchid plant count added to the collection.

Sounds like a good system. Watering mounted plants takes a lot of my time. Although, I think it's my excuse to be left alone.

May I suggest automating your watering and using misters for the tolumnia...... Can be run off a hose with timer. fertilizer in - line.... plants can be placed in shallow tubs, if growing indoors or on plastic. They really love consistent water and food....
I like the suggestion of the cocoa fibers... I have always used charcoal chunks ( and have one in glass chunks). Several of the local commercial growers are having good luck right now growing them on wood mounts- in with the Vandas.....
