    Default Time caring for Orchids

I often wonder where the day has gone to when I finish 'working' ('playing') in the greenhouse. Time just disappears when I go into my orchid sanctuary. I love it when I have that kind of time, but often wonder how much time I really spend tending to my orchids. So, my question for you:

How much time do you spend caring for your orchids?

I probably spend too much time: 2-4 hours a week for a little over 100 plants.

My answer is about the same as Clint's. Maybe more when there is a lot of repotting to do.

Bruce: if your orchid care takes "x" amount of time, how do you handle it during the school year when you're so busy?

The good thing about the school year is that it is winter and the watering, etc time is cut in half. Plus, both LJA and I take turns caring for the orchids. During the summer, I water, etc during the week and LJA does it on the weekends.

With 250 or so 'chids that must be taken to the sink and watered, allowed to drain and then returned to their growing shelves, I am lucky to get by with 6 hours a week. I repot on a 'as needed' basis, rather than all at one particular time because there are just too many. Sometimes I set aside one entire day on the weekend to do some major repotting, maybe once every 4 or 5 months.

Where can I get one of those LJA to help me out with my orchids!
It takes me at least 10 hrs a week to water and fertilize all my orchids and If I have to treat them for any reason, like spider mites, it takes me longer than that. I only have 3 days free of orchid care a week.
The hubby is definitely NOT interested on any kind of plants! LOL

    Ditto on the repotting issue.

But I spend at least 10-15 minutes a day with my 'chids. Since I only have 10 right now and three of those are babies... quick leaf checks for spiking or illness and moisture level checks... it doesn't take too long. I doroot checks on my clear pots about every 2-3 days.

I noticed a couple days ago ... My Dtps Long Pride Fancy is putting out a new leaf! Hasn't taken long, but it's already about 3/4" long. (See, if we don't stare at them, they won't grow.. right? )
