Native to Thailand and named after the Thai grower Prasong Sukhakul, Paph. sukhakulii was discovered in 1965 among a batch of collected plants of Paph. callosum. It is an extremely easy grower under standard mottled-leaf paph conditions, and can bloom several times a year. Paph. sukhakulii has been used extensively in hybridization with great success, giving rise to such distinguished progeny as Macabre (x Voodoo Magic), Iantha Stage (x rothschildianum), and Colorkulii (x concolor).

Great looking sukh! The only way to really avoid the glare is in the South Charlotte region of North Carolina, in my grow space. Send it to me, and I will make sure there is no more glare!!!!

Awardable, Jason. I don't know how much time / inclination you have to take that plant to a show or judging center, but, in my opinion, it would be worth your while. Gorgeous pic, too.

Thanks, Louis...maybe when it becomes a nice large multigrowth plant I'll have the time to head up to a judging center (and flowers oughta be larger then too).

The size issue: hard to judge from a pic. I took a Michael Koopowitz x adductum up to the last show; though it garnered a blue, it was on its first bloom so didn't have the flower size it needed to compete for an AOS quality award. (I was proud of that thing--two growths, both spiked and blooming for the first time, eight flowers, long petals, but small still...)
