Here is a thread where we can make fun of blooming size plants that refuse to bloom. Maybe a little embarrassment in front of the world will help them along? Please feel free to post your own examples and to discuss the possible reasons.

This is my Epi parkinsonianum that I bought blooming size. It has been with me for the past two summers. It has grown two leaves in that time, they are each over 2' (the stick is well over a foot for scale). It has seen full sun in the summer until 10:30am for the first summer, and it was in a very bright location in the shade-house last summer. Winters were both spent under lights near an east window.

The plant looks healthy.
How bright is full sun in your area? The leaves still look a bit too dark.

I agree with John..looks like the light could be upped on this one, although I have bloomed mine in lower light than you are describing.

It might take less time to list the ones that DO rebloom! lol But yeah, there is this one particular plant.....It has been so long since it's bloomed I'm not sure what the blooms look like anymore. I've had it for at least two years and it hasnt' bloomed since I got it. I just repotted it into a nice airy basket to see if that will make a difference but here's the pre-repotting pic. There must be something great about the plant, bugs just LOVE it!

It is pretty bright in summer I suppose - NC mountains at around 3500'. I think it has seen pretty similar light to an Onc wildcat that bloomed both years (they both get darker in the winter). I have seen dark green noted for leaves in this species.

Do you let yours dry out a bit more around now? I saw that they experience this before the spring rainy season mentioned in the orchid species culture article. Does yours bloom in the spring/summer only?

In the cool darker days of winter all mine get watered less, so yes. I am almost sure I have had it bloom in the fall for me as well but spring in more frequent time for mine to bloom. Nice sized flower about 4" and fragrant!

I think it's Blc Honolulu Sunset 'Wakida' x Blc Owen Holmes 'Ponkan'. It been in sheath a few times, keeps growing...but just won't bloom. I placed it in a hand woven basket with very little mix to try and get the roots to grow better. I think the potting medium wasn't doing it any favors....maybe a little better root ventilation will kick it into gear. It'll be a velvety red when I finally get to share pics.....when I originally got it the flowers were already fading and there may be a pic from when I first joined. I've had it at least two years now.
