OMG these are so cute!! I have one of these too, I can't wait until it blooms!!! Do any of you have pics of your entire plant?

The 'Avo' clone is a standard cattleya size (so they can get quite large).

Comparing John's and my 'Avo' I think the 'Lakeview' is much more of a round flower with broader and overlapping petals...Now I am going to have to keep an eye out for that clone...you are such an enabler

John I believe my plant is a bit more mature than yours. I am sure you will get more buds in the future. There were 9 buds last year. The terminal bud is actually 2 buds. What I don't like about this plant is the orientation of most of the flowers. They tend to open facing sideways. That pic was from last years blooming. I didn't check to see how many buds there are this year but I suspect about the same. I wish it would develop a second lead.

Tim, I was looking for a natural 2nd lead but I may do a back-cut, for in another year it will need to be repotted and this way I will have 2 plants with front leads...one for me and one to share

Ron, my plant originally produced two new leads that simultaneously bloom. Now only one side continues to grow new leads, the other end just sits there.

It is already hanging at the highest part of my greenhouse so it is already at maximum light, short of bringing it outside of the greenhouse. I am thinking it bringing it a few feet down to give it less light and see what happens next blooming.

Joe,
A back cut is cutting a rhizome to separate the back part of an orchid (older growth) from the younger side of the plant.
This is usually done without removing the plant from the pot to minimize stress.

The theory is that the newly separated older growth (back cut) will be forced to sprout new leads since it is no longer sending nutrients to the younger side of the plant.
