Thanks to all of you, I not only have a name for this orchid, I have been able to get it to develop a couple of buds, and today, one of those buds is rewarding me by opening. I know it's not opened completely, but has made progress even since this morning, and since I can now see petals, I'm counting it as "in bloom."

Did you guys know that if you watch them carefully, orchids will open right in front of your eyes? This was shot about an hour after the already posted shots. LOL




And I'm not sure if this is something I just missed before, or if it's some sort of new growth (in the center of the leaves)

This is quite easily a 5 star phal. You'll love it. Mine regularly throws double spikes.

All my orchids always take forever to open - I always buy plants from the store with the buds on them already but not all open. It always seems like it takes all month long for the entire thing to open up.

Tess, this bud has looked like it was going to explode, for weeks now. This morning it finally did. LOL Now I'll be watching that other bud that's alongside it, but which isn't nearly the size this one was. I guess that one will take a long time.
