    Default What happened to this spike?

    This is the second spike on this Brassia Eternal Wind 'Summer Dream' but something happened to it and none of the buds after the weak part of the spike opened. Can anyone tell me what this is? I just want to make sure it doesn't happen to any other spikes on my plants.

    Also, what is this weird little thingie on the lower part of the spike?

    Probably an insect or physical damage from moving the plant and it getting damaged??

    that second pic looks like a catterpillar... have u tried touching it to see if it moves?

    if it wasn't the caterpillar, then it might be damaged by sunburn... is thte plant always in that position? even if the sunlight doesn't directly hit the plant, if the light is reflected onto that window, then the glass could magnify it...

    Could be fungal/bacteria or insect.
