Default triphora trianthophora - three birds orchid

Another Arkansas native orchid we found today was the triphora trianthophora. It too was just out of bloom, but look at all the seed pods!

woo hoo three thumbs up for the very active bee(?) that pollinated this plant!

That's incredible Bruce, how many seeds. As Tim said ... good news.

The flower is also very beautiful and what your telling me about it: "Reports say that plants in a common area will all flower on the same day". A quirk of this beautiful plant

I just went to the link you provided and read the info on this species. It only blooms for one day, and all the plants in the area bloom the same day?!? I imagine it would be extremely difficult to catch this one in bloom.

That's beautiful! It looks like a cross between a Dendrobium and a reed-stem Epidendrum.
