Yes, I understand, there are few of those, and they are natural. I was referring to cultivated hybrids created in nursuries. Some are very lovely, I however prefer species over them.

75%+ species. I buy stud divisions of hybrids, but my collection is primarily focused on species now. Not that I started off that way. hmmmm.....All orchids are challenging, but I get a special thrill of making a species orchid grow....![]()
20-30% species is a good mix as most species are seasonal and there may be periods in the off-season when you may see no flowers and then will really appreciate the blooms from your hybrids.
i admit i mostly have species at the moment, but why limit oneself to species, when you
can get the best of 2 or more species in a hybrid?

I love them all! So who am I to criticize one way or the other,in other words I just get what I like, regardless of what it is.As long as I have happy healthy orchids,Im happy too!

I've voted 10-20% species, and that's probably what I have at the moment. I love species orchid because they are beautiful and appeal to me in the same way that a particular hybrid will. However when I think of conservation, 'true species' (collected from the wild) is not the way to go - they have evolved to grow in their niche, and that's where they belong; and the 'species' available today are most of the time 'improved man-made clones' so to me they are as genetically manipulated as hybrids!

I voted 35 - 50% as I find many hybrids offer color, variations and intensity thereof never to be found in species! Nature regulates life, what is not compatible cannot be created. If weak or not resistant life will be short and hardly reach maturity (blooming stage for plants). A horse and a donkey can mate, but the resulting mules cannot reproduce (sterile). That is one of nature's ways of controlling unfavourable reproduction. If really not compatible, mixing usually doesn't work at all. If nature allows a life to be created there must be a valid reason. Think of all the races among human beings, when intermixed are they not somewhat "humanoid hybrids"?
I voted 75+ species. because nature gives me good learning about them..
100% species, definitely!![]()
