    Default Paph. wardii

This is from a flask that was produced as a step to a more vigorous alba variety. Half the plants from the flask were alba and half were the normal variety. This is the normal variety.

The reason that flasks like this are made is to try to put some vigor into the progeny. Oftentimes, crossing two albas will produce weak offspring that don't grow well.

The albas from this type breeding are usually bred to albas from a similar type of breeding to get more vigorous alba offspring. All the offspring in the second breeding will be alba.

I;m a fan of the wardii's... I think they are overlooked over because of the sukhakulii... but i'd have to say my pref goes to wardii.. I have 5 or six different plants after all.

Two of the plants are from a similar breeding to yours, ie half-albas and they have both turned out with the colour.... I'm not disappointed though as I do like the normal form very much... I've still got another chance of getting a pure albino on a cross which is a half-alba x alba.. it seems to lack the pigmentation on the lower part of the leaves so we'll see...

thanks for sharing this... it's picked up my morning

That is great! We have a couple of wardii's - one that should be blooming now and another that is still a seedling. I need to check if we have one in bud. I have been waiting on it to bloom.

    Cheers,
    BD
