Default Neofinetia & Bulbos in sphag

I have my Neo falcata potted in a clay pot on a mound of sphag and a couple of Bulbos also in sphag. The sphag no longer looks nice and fluffy like it once did - actually kind of crusty on top. So, how often do you change the stuff? It's been about 10 months since they were potted.

I'm going through a potting mania right now. Anything that looks like it needs it is getting it. How about these?

sphag lasts about 6 months for me. starts to compact after that. I love the stuff, but hate the frequent repotting.

I hate sphag as well. I change it often with my Dracs.

So I really should be replacing this stuff that often?

Mine lasts about a year but I only use it on Dracs now so there is little to no fertilizer on those.

I use a lot of sphag and try to repot at least once a year. Some of my plants take off in it and over grow their pots, so they get it more frequently. I don't mind the chance to check out their lower halves and see how happy they are...
