bumps on my phal leaves

Hi everyone,
I unfortunately had my first experience with a crown rotted Phal several wks. ago. About 2 wks. ago I had given up and was on my way to the dumpster to put it out of it's misery when I noticed 2 basal keikis. They have grown fine and looked very healthy since then. As I was inspecting them this morn., I saw that the leaves had developed some bumps/worts that I haven't noticed before today. These bumpy areas are on both the top surface and underneath the leaves. The Mother plant had them as well...but I only saw 3 under 1 of her 2 leaves. The bumps were raised and hard and would not come off without plant tissue coming off also. In one of my pictures, you may be albe to see a bump on the edge of a keiki leaf that I scratched with my fingernail. I have had scale problems in the past, but these are not scale.

I would appreciate it if you would give me your opinion of these and also advise me.

Vicki, I have had those, also. I do not know "what" it is but I'll tell you what I did to my phals. I scraped/cut the bumps off with a sterile blade, sprayed with alcohol, then put sulpher on the wound. My two phals still have the scars, but the bumps have not come back. i have had that before, and i have just put it down to thrip damage, as it matches symptoms. i have just used neem tree granules (very sparingly though) as the plant will absorb the bitter tasting liquid contained in them, and the thrips die of starvation.

I cannot recall ever seeing anything like this. I hope the bug (or whatever) can be identified and stopped. Maybe it is a chemical issue. Just found this old thread: orchid with bumps

I posted my same "update question" on another board, and I wanted to share one of the replies that I rec'd with all of you. Since some of you have had the same or similar problem as I do, I just thought what the member said might be more "food for thought" if it happens to have to you again in the future. He says that he thinks my problem is Edema/Odema....he sent me a link, as well. GP03 - EDEMA

I wasn't familiar with the condition, but it seems to be another good possibility for an answer to my question (??) I'm just trying to return the favor to you for always sharing your opinion and advice with me in reply to my questions. I appreciate your help.

What can i do if the same problem happens with Rose leaves?

Norman, I use the product Bayer Rose spray with roses...It works quite well. Betty :-)

Well, I certainly would NOT USE use the Bayer Rose spray on an animal...nor would anyone else with any sense, Jordan! LOL!
