    Default Not an Orchid

    My brother is in India and saw this flower and thought I would know what it is....like not a clue! While I don't know its ID, I don't think it is an orchid... any help????

    Some kind of lily? Found it listed as a spider lily. Googled for lily, saw a red spider lily, googled for spider lily and looked at images. Spider Lily | Trimoon.com

    Yes it is spider lily and very commonly grown here in Malaysia. There are beds of it on some of road dividers. The scientific name is Hymenocallis speciosa.

    Its from the genus Crinum (cry-num)
