Growing Phalaenopsis

As you can see.,I am new to the forum and also growing moth orchids.I live in South Australia,and I have 30 odd cymbidiums that are doing well in a shade house. We have cool to cold winters and hot summers.I use a overhead sprinkler/misting system when required..... Can the phals' be grown in the shade house with the cymbidiums or do they need a particular environment? I am not very computer savvy, otherwise I would post some photos of the green/shade house, but stay tuned...still working it out.....Hoping some advice and information will be available for the above conditions, Regards....AL

Though phalaenopsis are supposed to be warm growing orchids I personally find that cool nights suit them better. The finest phals grown here are from our highlands, the Cameron Highlaands, where day temps are 25 C in the shade and bit more in the sun; and night temps are around 16 - 18 C. But cold nights of less than 10 C are a NO , NO, especially for a prolonged spell. Incidentally cymbidiums do very well in the Cameron Highlands too.
