Could someone tell me what these areas on the underside of one of my phal leaves are, please? When I touch them, they feel puffy and hollow.....not mushy at all.
I would appreciate your help.
Vicki

That looks to me like a fungal or bacterial disease. Some bacteria produce gas in their developement, so maybe that's why those areas are puffy. I would cut the leaf off and seal the cut with some cinnamon.
Looks like spidermite damage. There is a species over here that causes the reverse of the other spidermite species, the reverse being raised bumps, not indentations in the leaves.
Vicki - we're all interested in what happens. Please keep us informed.
