    ok, so guess I'll ask then... what do u mean taxo-limbo? Is it the actual species name? too many synyms? or is it whether they are actually Dendrobiums...

    I'm still not sure about these Dends though, the New Guinea types are really popular here in Oz, mainly because they are suppose to be quite long lasting flowers (would you be able to confirm that with this plant ntgerald?) but all that fuzz on the outside... surely only a mother could love

    I love the fuzz, wondering if this should be put into the breeding program that was mentioned a while back trying to get monstrous orchids... Fuzz and hair seem to be a requizit for monstrosity

    Default Bench,

    the macrophyllum complex is in the process of being reclassified by some taxonomists.

    For the members endemic to the Philippines, they are pictured in references under different names.

    The longest cane there is 14 inches long, with a diameter of 1 inch. The blooms last about a month, I think depending on your area microclimate. My own grow space has electric-fan induced air movement (for the past three months only) usually around 12 hours a day, and the effect on plants has been great. More roots, quicker, and fatter too.

    I like that furry orchid, and with the markings it kind of looks like a furry little dinasour of some kind. I don't grow dends, but I could learn to love that one.

    well then lucky for the macrophyllum I'm the only one who's not into fuzz...

    NTG... thought they lasted longer than that, ie a couple of months, and that was why they are being used for hybridization here more often....

    hmm.. just checked and I'm completely mistaken (yet again..) the section Latouria is the long lasting one.. and one, Dend atroviolaceum has a similar lip to the macrophyllum.
