My new Oncidium. two different names!

I would not use vermiculite as it compacts when it drys out and that would cut off air to the roots. I would however as Jordan mentions use a smaller bark mixture for the fine oncidium roots.

Funny, ive never had that problem-then again, do keep my orchids damp. I have heard about that though....

You could even just mix a tablespoon with a cup of bark to lighten the mix a bit.

Hi guys! My new Oncidium is in bloom now, but only the buds at the end of the spike. I wonder if the rest of them will do it later.
Well, I was hoping it was the other one, but what I got was Onc. heaven scent 'sweet pea' and not the Sharry baby var. aureum.
Here's the picture of what I got:


Onc. heaven scent 'sweet pea'... It's not bad, but I haven't noticed any fragrance yet.

Oh yes, it is fragrant!... and smells like vanilla-chocolate

That top one does look like Sharry Baby actually, and if it smells like you say it does, then i say, why is it labeled otherwise lol? My mum thought i had bought some new chocolate or something and was hunting for it in my bedroom for half an hour.....she discovered it was the Sharry baby i brought home lol

Onc. Heaven scent = Onc. Ruffles x Onc. Sharry Baby so it can look like SB.

Hmmm!
Yes, looks a lot like sharry baby, but the pics that I've seen of it, has a white lip with a dark red-ish line in the middle and the other ones have plain white lip.

I also own the one in this next picture and the name on its tag says "Onc. sweet sixteen 'elegant' "
Kind of confusing for me!
