August has been a truly screwy month temperature-wise and it looks like September may be as well. Normally August & early to mid September are hot and humid throughout. Not the type of weather I like but you know what to expect. This year, temps have been bouncing all over the place. Much of August was actually pleasant -- which was a bonus. However, the temp today is supposed to hit the mid 90's F (around 34C). By Tuesday - assuming the forecast holds true -- the "high" is supposed to be 56F (13C)!![]()

It has been so wet here in Florida this summer that I plan on buying every fungicide known to man and use them. I can believe all the pseudobulbs I have lost this year. I was marching around the backyard this morning with my thiomyl, little white mask, plastic baggies gloves and my tennis shoes with the laces out and the tongues pulled out so I look like Bozo the Clown. Fortunately we live on a lake so only the neighbors on the immediate sides of our house think I am a loon.

I think I am known to neighbors as "that crazy orchid nut", that can be seen in her backyard talking to her plants. I know what it may look like...me and my camera snapping pictures mumbling to myself. I am too happy with the new buds (and probably doing an awkward happy dance
or too busy exclaiming over the new batch of bugs..
..I just do not care that other people are around and gawking at the weird lady anymore. lol I put on my awfulest gardening outfit, complete with awful dirty garden shoes that used to be white and off I go. If they come by on a really good day that outfit is completed with my headphones, music blaring in my ears and me singing along. I may be a sight...but i'm a happy sight!
My catts did so well outside this summer that it made me sad to stuff them back in their indoor spot where they will have to suffer pasty flourescent light, dry air and haphazard watering. Hopefully, I've gotten a little smarter since last winter.
