I don't usually post Phallies - I don't grow (many) phallies . I find they don't do well in my humid conditions which suit the Vandas and other monopodials with their aerial roots which are so prevalent in my greenhouse; but this one caught my eye at our Show yesterday, and I bought it.
It is the flower size which is the first thing - just over 5 inch natural spread - 13cm. Secondly the colour - a very pure just ever so slightly off white - which the web can't do justice to, it seems. Of course my wife was delighted - she loves Phals. So it resides on the dining room table, for now, and I'll just have to make a special effort to grow it when it goes to the greenhouse as flowering finishes.

We've had an exchange about our mutual lack of fondness for phals, but I understand the occasional "slip" - I bought this one - a new hybrid with just a numbered tag and 2 blooms about a month ago, and am already bored with it - and it really caught my eye at the time! Probably no reason to fret, though, as I seem to have a particular talent for killing phals as soon as they've finished blooming.

Geoff try to grow them mounted, just like they grow in the wild. They will love the humidity.

Very nice phal, Geoff! I like the dash of spotting against the white background. Byron suggested the same thing I was going to -- try growing it mounted (or in a basket)

I can see why your wife was so infatuated with this phal, and why it caught your eye! It's gorgeous! My collection is currently 50% Phals... but considering I only have four orchids... that's not saying much. Heh heh heh. Still, this is great! I agree with Byron. You should try mounting it. I bet it'd do great!
