So glad I discovered this thread. Can't believe I missed it originally. First of all your collection and displays are fantastic! Secondly and most important is that I have learned so much from just lookng at your photos and of course reading the posts--especially your replies. Am definately going to try the soda bottle trick. Perhaps you could do a step by step instructional thread with photos to help all of us who plan to try this method. Great Job! Thanks you so much for this. First of all Bill, I hope your coffee didn't go cold, like mine, reading this long post. It was riveting reading, wasn't it. Yesterday, I commenced the regime of Matt's (trying not to hijack your spot, Matt), 2 little Onc. alliance orchids. They are in their nice little plastic bottles, hanging under a shady tree (Is this OK Matt)?

many thanks! for the great feedback Bill!!!Always appreciate feedback and constructive crit, as this is the only place I get to share my hobby with likeminded peeps. can be abit isolating at times, noone I know likes gardening/ plants let alone orchids. I can pretty much pre determine the reaction I would get if I chose to justify a smile on my face being put down to a rot victim bouncing back in all its glory. lol.

I hope others who get inspired with the pop/soda bottle achieve good results despite the vast variations in our indiv grow environments. It will be a challenge with a rubbish mobile phone cam to submit a photo journey of the method but will try my best. As with previous uploaded pics of blooms/display only 1/100 shots are actually worth the effort. But heres hoping!

It is a wonderful concept that the forum is strongly supported with banter, opinions, debate, experience and advice. It helped me a great amount even pre registered so its vital to reciprocate.

The Matt, the temp. here today is going to reach 28 deg. celc. (82 F.), I have at the moment 2 bottles hanging in shade of tree. With little sun under there. Do you think I should move these to the shadehouse, which is covered with 50% shadecloth, or leave them where they are. Is the function of this exercise to create more humidity inside the bottle?
