The parentage is Aerides flabellata x Rhynchstylis coelestis . I suppose the breeder was hoping for a blue flabellata ; so was I.
We were both disappointed then. What we seem to have got is a plant which vegetatively looks like coelestis, with a smaller flabellata flowers , apart from having a poorer ( narrower and not fringed ) lip.
I am reminded of George Bernard Shaw, noted playwright, author and critic ( a very sharp witty man ) who proposed to a famous actress that they should have a love affair and produce a child ; Imagine said GBS - your looks and my brains. The actress turned him down , saying - but what if the poor child was unfortunate enough to be as dim as me and as ugly as you ?
I reckon the actress was not as dim as she pretended.
And orchid breeding works like this too, sometimes.

That lip is so nice against the yellow! Maybe some more selective breeding can bring out a larger flower-sometimes it takes a few tries lol
