This is the first of 3 very long spikes to open. Also the first time it's bloomed for me.

lovely anceps
Just beautiful, Jeff - you'll have many more blooms soon, I'm sure. Great growing!
very, very pretty!
I should take pics of mine and send them to you...see if you can diagnose what is wrong with my anceps cross. It won't bloom. I've burned it, given it shade...let it get cold...let it get hot...someday i'm gonna pull it out and repot it and see if that works. I do not know...it will not bloom. What did you do?? lol Please tell me...how did you get yours to bloom?Any ideas?
I've always liked the flowers of anceps. The ridiculouly long spike has been a sufficient deterant
Mine is growing in a slat basket and is kept on the south side of the greenhouse all winter. It goes out to the shade house for the summer and gets nearly as much sun as my schomburgkias. It was a division that took 2 years for me to get to bloom. Those spikes have been growing for quite a few months. I was so afraid they would get damaged some how.
Lovely!
That's a nice L. Anceps and it looks quite large, any measurements (w x l)?
