A first flowering for me of this little thing which has been in my collection for the past 1/2 year or more . Can't find my tape measure to put in the pic - but it's in a four inch basket, Flowers a bit under an inch across. 10 buds and flowers. Not yet at its best - I note that the earliest flower to open has turned fom cream to white - so if and when all of the buds/flowers are open and white I'll take another pic and add to this thread - but I am away for a few weeks after Xmas, so I may easily miss it; my excuse for posting now !
The Rhynco btw is said to be var Petoniana - can't find any ref to that - and gigantea comes in many colours - I have white, reds, orange and peach - the last two not yet flowered - both of my whites are in early spike. But R.gigantea is a much bigger plant - 15 inch leaf span maybe 24 inch ( no tape measure !) , leaves 2 inches wide. I don't have this holco' species in my collection - they are hard to find and I only have kimballianum so far . But from IOSPE it is a bit bigger than this, flowers very similar although the lip is not all red , and of course being a holco' it is terete, which this is not.
So it may be that this is a precocious flowering on a baby , and it can get much bigger - and have lots and lots of flowers ( the optimist speaks ! )
But intersting, don't you think - if you are a vandaceous plants fan , as I am ?
