Well, I put it in a glass vase. When watering it, is it okay to just fill the vase up and then dump the water out, as opposed to taking the plant out and soaking it? I'm afraid I'll break roots off every time I have to do that, and as I've heard, Vandas are incredibly sensitive of their roots. Especially considering the roots are eventually going to get quite long and wrap themselves around the inside of the vase.
I would also do that !! Actually you could re-use the same water aswell, why waste it. Just fill the Vase, and empty it in 5-10 minutes (soon you will find it out yourself, how long it takes for the roots to absorb all the water and become green), leave an inch or less of water in the Vase, for it will provide the humidity later. And to boost the humidity around the plant, create a microclimate by placing it on a tray with gravel/ pebbles and water, and group your plants together, keep a few non orchid plants like ferns etc, they help in maintaining the RH.
Thank you for the advice! I've put a shallow layer of medium sized pebbles in bottom of the vase. I figure that will help maintain a little bit of moisture in the vase, without keeping the roots wet.
