Comparttias are twig epiphytes found generally in the Caribbean area ; probably short-lived in nature- as all twig epiphytes are. A bit variable, this one seems rather small flowered, but I keep trying different cultural methods in the hope of growing larger stronger plants , and maybe the flower size will improve if and when Iget there. The white thread ike things are of course aerial roots , and they seem quite happy, so maybe this is one I will succeed with.

Woha... that orchid is different. I like it, Geoff. Is it fragrant at all? You mention it is short lived, so I assume the flowers might be fragrant to attract the pollinators.
