I am so happy with my butterfly orchid! I have never had one of these make it so long and do so well. It accidentally got uprooted today, so I put it into a clay pot to help keep me from overwatering it. In spite of the storm blowing it around and me uprooting it, it continues to bloom and has two new buds coming along behind this one. There is also a new growth poking up. If this keeps up i'm going to have to quit saying I kill oncidiums. I've also got an Prosthechea boothiana (previously Encyclia), looking like it's in sheath. I'm not familiar with how these bloom so i've been watching the new pbulbs grow. Its called the "dollar" orchid....(should be silver dollar orchid), due to the shape and size of the mature p-bulbs. I find the plant to be rather pretty with the new growths...and cannot wait to see the flowers.
The name on the orchid species website called this Prosthechea boothiana so it may have been re-named recently from Encyclia.
