2 vanda questions

[stateless]

1) I recently acquired some vandas that came with wine corks packed in the baskets, I know some people use them, but since I grow outdoors should I remove them or is it ok to leave them?
2) I hang small bags of fertilzer on my vandas, I've been using panthose or knee hi stockings to make the sacs with but they don't last long in our climate I found this in one of my plants and this would be perfect for containing fertilizer and would last, however I have googled fertilizer holder, cage, releaser,spike and can't come close to finding it. the plant that had this came from Hawaii , if it was a local grower i would have contacted them. If anyone would know what you call this or where to find some ( i guess you could pm me a source) it would be appreciated? thanks for any input to either question

Google "osmocote basket" and go to images. Some vendors call them "fertilizer baskets".

I grow vandas outdoors in Florida also. I grow in open baskets with no media but corks don't hold any moisture at all. I think you could leave them in or take them out, whichever you want to do.

The corks would be fine. I use dynamite fertilizer instead of osmocote cheaper and just as good. I'll send you a message on where to find the baskets.
