You need an import permit, a phytosanitary certificate (not applicable for flasks) and a cities certificate if it is a species.

This is right and this should be valid in ALL country that acknowledge CITES in total.

The seller should arrange for phytosanitary certificate and the cities certificate while the reciever should get an import permit from his or her country.

This is for private import. When a nursery go to an exibition there is often special arrangement for the paper work .


Then there is local interpretation of CITES rules all over the place as the CITES directive can be implemented to different level and in different ways in each country.

My experience was that the orchid never arrived and I could not get my money back . No idea if he did not ship it, or if it did not make it thru customs. Supposedly he was going to check on it, but never responded after that. It was a small vendor; I'd hope you'll have better luck with a large, better known one.

I am glad you are asking this question because I have similar question too.

I will be visiting Borneo in 2 months. It would be great if I could bring back some orchids. Do seedpods follow same or similar rules from plants? I know that I need to buy from someone who has CITES permit, but that's all I know.
