Thgese are cattleya seedlings tied on to the twig/branch ( about 40mm thick - a bit less than one and a half inches. Put here straight from the flask. Doing very nicely thank you. They are hung up , with the small vandaceous stuff, so that they get sprayed most days ; not seasonal - they just produce one new bulb after the other - the lastest now say 40mm height but the new growth will be another big step up. How far to flowering ? Don't know.
They are of course in my greenhouse , I'm just kidding you when I give a hint they may be outside .
What is it/are they ? C./intermedia alba x C. leopoldii. I looked up the cross in Orchidwiz, and it says C/intricata - but that is the name for C.intermedia x C.tigrina - and if you don't think tigrina is a good name, then call it guttata ; similar to, but not the same thing as leopoldii !. I have e-mailed orchid-wiz about this to see if they have any info.
I tried looking it up on the RHS Register website, but that is a non-friendly site, so I'm always a bit sceptical when it gives no return.
Maybe if and when it flowers I'll try and register it , and see what the Registrar says.
This was my first try at this kind of thing - bare wood mount, no moss, no tree-fern etc , and the results encouraged me, so now I have a lot growing ( crossed fingers) this way.
